It's Remembrance Day today.
I'm sitting in my cubicle and looked at the clock... 10:59... I listen to what's going on around me... plenty of chatting, typing, gossip... I'm no saint. Believe Me... but I do think that Rememberance Day should serve as two things:
1. A minute to stop and think about people that gave their lives for any thought of freedom.... Both my Grandfathers were in World War 2... from Very Very Very different perspectives. One spent his time in the Canadian Army, stationed on a war ship as a medic, and the other spent the war hiding, running and surviving the Nazis in Poland. His story can be found in the Archives of this important building.
2. A couple minutes to think about the fact that we continue to force young people into the warmachine with thoughts that it is necessary and filled with honour.

Once upon a time there was a young but decently looking... well let’s call him a Prince... working at a big ugly box store that sold toys. Now this Prince thought toys! That is a wonderful way to make some money. Spending time with kids and making them happy... almost being like Santa.
One day the Prince realized that the toy industry was just as evil and twisted as the rest. Starting to see how parents really were with their children and how the children of today treated their parents. So the Prince became very bitter. One day (November 11th to be exact) in the toy store the Prince wearing his red poppy with pride and with great stride started to help all the children and the parents find exactly what they were looking for, thinking that everyone new it was a day of remembrance, reflection, forgiveness and hope. As the clock struck 11:00am the prince stopped what he was doing to take that minute to think about all those things... as the announcement explained to all the shoppers that "At this time we would ask everyone to take a minute of their time to stop and remember..."
"Excuse me..."
"Excuse me sir"
"EXCUSE ME SIR" yelled a ladies voice.
Now the Prince didn't look up... thinking that there is no way on earth that someone at this time would be this clueless to what is happening. There is no music playing...no one speaking, no one neither walking nor shopping. A 4000 sq foot building that is COMPLETELY quite... except for this one voice.
After the third attempt of getting the Prince's attention the Prince looked up to see a woman with child staring at him in disbelief. "Can you not hear me??" "I need a Pokemon board game"… "SIR I NEED A POKEMON BOARD GAME!" "CAN YOU HEAR ME!" she chirped.
The Prince looked back at her and shook his head while putting his chin back to his chest.
"Are you deaf!??" asked the bloated cow of a women.
The announcement finished and you could hear everyone continue to shop once again. The prince looked at the women and said
"Lady you must be the most ignorant self centered bitch I have ever met in my entire life"
Before the Ogre could say another word the Prince removed himself from her ugly stare and continued to help all the other little bastards find their Pokemon apparel.
And now the Prince lives happily ever after.
